Mdina holds perhaps a few hundred residents behind its walls. Houses inside them change hands rarely and quietly, and almost never through a portal — this one was never advertised at all.
It had been in one family since the 1920s and was sold, eventually, because the heirs lived in three countries. The courtyard is the thing: original stone, a well that still works, and no sound from the street at all after six.
Much of the work was persuasion rather than search — convincing the family that the buyer intended to live in it rather than let it by the week.
