Għarb, at the western end, where the island runs out into fields and then into sea.
Għarb is as far west as Gozo goes. The farmhouse is the old kind — rooms added over two centuries as families grew, arranged around a yard rather than a corridor.
The client wanted somewhere that did not empty in winter. Għarb does not: the square has a church, a bar, and a shop, and all three stay open in January.
It was bought four per cent under the asking price, and the reason was a boundary the plan and the wall disagreed about. The notary settled it before the konvenju — which is when such things should be settled — and the figure came off rather than being argued over.
